Ocean Freight

Go Shipping Cargo Ocean Freight Services

Sea Freight is a means of transportation where large amounts of goods are ferried using carrier ships. Goods are typically packed into containers and then loaded onto a vessel. A average cargo ship carries around 10,000 TEUs (Twenty foot equivalent containers), which means that sea freight is a cost-efficient way to transport high quantities over large distances.

Over 80% of global freight is done via sea. The ability to move large volumes at affordable rates is key to our customers and Go Shipping Cargo Agency has a long history of ensuring the process is seamless and hassle free.

We are able to efficiently handle the below types of Sea Freight:

  • FCL or Full container load, which you purchase one or more full containers to send on a ship.
  • LCL or Less than container load, where your products share a container as you may not have a full container’s worth. Once they reach their destination, the container’s contents are divided once more.
  • RORO or Roll on roll off, where your products do not leave the vehicle they are in to go onto the cargo ship. The vehicle simply drives onto the ship, and then drives off the other end.
  • Dry bulk shipping, used for some specific items, which are deposited into the hold of the ship instead of travelling in a container.

FCL (Full Container Load) – This is where the shipment is occupies the whole container be it 20’ or 40’

LCL (Less Container Loads) – In LCL goods from different shippers are consolidated in one container for transit

Refrigerated Cargo – Reefers (Refrigerated containers) are containers in intermodal freight transport that are capable of refrigeration for the transportation of temperature-sensitive, perishable cargo such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and other similar items

RoRo (Roll on Roll Off) – This is sea transport where your products do not leave the vehicle they are in to go onto the cargo ship. The vehicle simply drives onto the ship, and then drives off the other end.

Bulk Cargo/ Dry bulk shippingused for some specific items which are not to be containerized. These goods are deposited into the hold of the ship instead of travelling in a container.

Advantages of Sea Transport:

Cost Effective compared to other options.

Due to the sheer amount of cargo carried by vessels. The cost per unit tends to be much lower than other freight options available. By comparison, some estimates show that ocean freight shipping costs are generally four to six times less expensive than air.

Easy to handle large/ heavy items

The space available and manoeuvrability of sea ports ensures that all items can be ferried regardless of weight and dimensions.

Safety

Ships are designed to carry Hazmat (hazardous materials) and DG

(dangerous goods) safely. The industry is well-versed in the handling of such goods and has regulations in place to ensure the safety of the vessel, crew, cargo and environment. Containers are designed to be sealed and locked during transportation for extra security.

Environmentally Friendly

Sea freight is considered the most carbon efficient mode of transportation. It produces fewer grams of exhaust gas emissions for each ton of cargo than any other mode of transport.
